This song "Tell me why" is sang by a 10 years old boy, Declan Galbraith on 2002. In my interpretation, the song is talking about the poor children, who are suffering in war and torture. The lyrics of the song kept repeating "Tell me why?" and "why" to emphasize and led the audience to think/reflect upon the lyrics, and there are compare and contrast of the situation of the poor children and what should a children like.
Children should be happy and live in a beautiful world, but now the poor kids are suffering. By making contrast, the poor children in the lyrics will look even more wretched and the audience might sympathize them and give a hand. The combination of the singer, Declan Galbraith's adorable voice and such an in-depth lyrics would surely influence the audience sympathy.
